Tolson Museum

Year 1 went to Tolsen Museum where they travelled back in time and experienced a school day in 1899! The children received the full olden day experience; from both boys and girls being segregated, to writing on slate and sitting on wooden benches. The children were shocked when they weren’t allowed to ask the teacher questions!
They also participated in peg doll making – the children realised how fortunate they are after knowing the children in the past had to make their toys from what was in the house. They then looked at various artefacts; like the old iron, mangle and abacus. It was a very interesting day!
