York Chocolate Story
Children in Year 4 visited the York Chocolate story. They learnt about the transformation of a chocolate bar from a cocoa bean. They unwrapped the secrets of chocolate brands originating from York and became chocolate experts as they took in the delicious smell and taste of a range of milk, dark and white chocolates.
The children were very excited to make and decorate chocolate lollies and happily chose from a range of toppings provided. During the workshop, they explored Roald Dahl’s classic story, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and became Willy Wonka himself as they created chocolate wallpaper in chocolate and bubble-gum flavouring, a clear favourite amongst the children. They designed a chocolate invention room in groups and the winners received token goodie-bags with even more chocolate!!
At the end of the session, children walked through the picturesque and historical streets of York before coming back to school. Overall, it was an exciting trip and children bought back lots of goodies from the gift shop.
